Let’s Go For A Walk

Allow me to introduce myself, I am Melissa Thompson, owner of Let’s Go For A Walk.  We are a dog walking, pet sitting service that has been caring for pets in the Crystal Lake area since 2000. I have lived in Crystal Lake my entire life, mostly on the west side of the lake I went to West Elementary and graduated high school at Crystal Lake South.  My family has always been surrounded by animals, I grew up on an Appaloosa Horse Farm until I was in 8th grade where we had at least twelve horses with dogs and cats and for years some chickens too.  After we moved off the farm we reduced our horse population to four horses along with our dogs and cats.

My husband Chris and I chose to remain in Crystal Lake living on the west side a short distance from my parents. Our children are adults with families of their own and live around the area. We currently have four furry children living with us two dogs, Reacher and Piper.  I was working as an administrator at a printing company in Crystal Lake before starting Let’s Go For A Walk.  Back in 2000 pet sitting was relatively a new concept with only one or two other pet sitting companies in the area.  I had been helping family and friends take care of their pets when they went on vacation and thought there could be other people out there needing help. We decided I could try it for a year and see what happens.  Over twenty years later it was one of the best decisions I made.

Let’s Go For A Walk has grown from just myself to having a great team of dog walkers and pet sitters who work with me. We provide daily dog walking to give some exercise and break for your dog’s when you are at work to the occasional dog walk if you have a long day or a trip to the city where you need an extra hand.  If you have cats, bunnies or other furry family members and are going on vacation we will feed, play, give attention to and keep that litter box clean.

The Let’s Go For A Walk team are all pet lovers that are responsible, dependable and just love to spend time with your furry kids.
